Victoria Mutual continues to maintain its sponsorship of a number of activities that not only generate national appeal and pride, but continue to have a significant impact on youth and community development, the promotion of character building, family life and, by extension, social stability in our nation.

Scholarships, Bursaries & Grants

Scholarships, Bursaries and grants are awarded annually to GSAT students, students pursuing tertiary studies and teachers who have the desire to upgrade their skills in order to serve our children better. Many Jamaicans, have benefited from our Scholarships and Grants Program.

Victoria Mutual Community Scholarship AwardsThe VMBS GSAT "Head-Start" Bursary is awarded to the top savers on the VM Save2Grow School Savings Programme. This Programme is open to preparatory, primary and all-age schools across the island. The VMBS Junior Plan "Head-Start" Scholarship is also geared towards individual students at the primary level and is awarded to three top VMBS "Junior Plan" savers, one from each County with outstanding GSAT results, to assist with their secondary-level education.

Other scholarships at the youth level are the VMBS Future Plan "Head-Start" Scholarship, awarded to three VMBS "Future Plan" savers to assist with local tertiary education and the VMBS Master Plan "Head-Start" Scholarship, which is awarded to one "Master Plan" saver pursuing studies at a local university for 3-4 years.

In lieu of academic scholarships, VMBS with the assistance of the United Way of Jamaica formulated the VMBS Business Developer "Head-Start" Grant, which is awarded to VMBS savers to assist in achieving their entrepreneurial dreams. As a further commitment to nation-building, the Business Developer Programme is designed to encourage members to save in order to realize their dreams of homeownership.

The VM Teachers' Bursary dates back to 1987, where two teachers were given awards to complete their first degree. The Bursary is awarded to teachers pursuing final-year studies at a local tertiary institution and who are members of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA).

VMBS also offers a two-year scholarship and one-time bursaries to students at the University of the West Indies, 2 scholarships for members of the Jamaica Paralympics Association and two National Youth in Agriculture Bursaries.

The Victoria Mutual Building Society is pleased to play an integral role in the lives of Jamaicans at home and abroad. Fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities is at the heart of the organization's core business and VMBS remains committed in its efforts to building sound minds through academic pursuits and supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of its members
