The Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) will celebrate its 131st Anniversary
in November 2009. The activities to commemorate this milestone include Anniversary Church Services,
Customer Appreciation Day and three Financial Seminars across the island. According to Vivienne
Bayley-Hay, Vice-President, Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs, “
This year, as in previous years our anniversary celebration will be centred on giving back to
our customers and members and the community within which they live. An added feature to our
celebration this year includes Financial Seminars in Montego Bay, Mandeville and Kingston. Given
the current, uncertain economic climate, Jamaicans are constantly seeking sound financial advice
and we know that these seminars will serve the purpose of providing practical financial advice to
help persons achieve their financial goals. ”

Boulevard Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m.; Power of Faith, Portmore at 7:00 a.m.; Port Maria New
Testament Church of God, Trinity, St. Mary at 11:00 a.m. and Mandeville New Testament Church of God

This indigenous Mutual Building Society –
The Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) was founded on November 14, 1878 by a
group of clergymen led by the then Rector of the Kingston Parish Church, Rev. G. W. Downer with the
aim of meeting the needs of the deserving thrifty. As the financial needs of Jamaicans change
Victoria Mutual has been sensitive to those needs and now provides a suite of financial solutions
through its Strategic Business Units, which form The Victoria Mutual Group. The VM Group provides
financial solutions including: savings and loans; real estate and property services; money
transfer; general insurance; foreign exchange trading and wealth management and stock broking.
